| Provide transport facilities to pilgrims | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, June 24: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has expressed its serious concern over absence of facilities and relevant arrangements for Amarnath bound pilgrim temporarily. halting at Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu. A meeting of the hoteliers association held here today under the chairmanship of Inderjeet Khajuria observed that the pilgrims are made to keep standing in long queues for hours before they are allowed entry into the Yatri Niwas. They are made to stand in scorching sun and heat and with no arrangement for drinking water. The association has demanded that instead of making they stand in long queues outside the Yatri Niwas a spacious shed with capacity of sheltering four to five thousand people should be erected on Yatri Niwas premises. Benches could be provided for making them sit before they are accommodated in the dormitories and rooms. There should be adequate arrangement of drinking water for them. The Association has further demanded that direct mini buses service for pilgrims should be provided from railway station and bus stand up to the Yatri Niwas, Bhagwati Nagar. Additionally special mini buses should ply between canal head and Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar during pilgrimage period. Presently the mini buses drop the pilgrims at canal head from where they have to walk a long distance in scorching heat up to Yatri Niwas, carrying their baggage on their heads. |
