| Madan Lal hails India, Pak for Chamliyal mela | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, June 24: Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma visited the famous 320 years old holy shrine of Baba Chamliyal in Ramgarh Sector of Samba Dist., today. PCC Vice President Thakur Hari Singh, former MLA and President District Congress Committee, Samba, Prakash Sharma, former minister S. Manjit Singh, Dr. Sat Pal, Babal Gupta, Santokh Singh and Bhagwan Singh accompanied the minister. Speaking on the occasion, Sharma appreciated the efforts of BSF of India and Chenab Rangers of Pakistan for managing the annual fair despite recent cross border firing incidents. He said that the people of both the countries want peace but unfortunately whenever some important developments towards peace take place, such incidents occurred. He said today's Mela is a symbol of communal brotherhood, as both the sides celebrate the fair. Interacting with local people of these border villages, they apprised the MP of acute scarcity of drinking water and power, besides growing unemployment . The local people also demanded development of Shrine as a tourist place. Member Parliament assured the people that their demands would be taken up at the appropriate level. He also disclosed that the State Govt. has already approved a project of Rs 6 crore to develop the Holy Shrine as tourist destination and the work for the same may start soon. |
