| RS Pura SDH ailing from staff deficiency | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, June 24: In yet another example of apathy of health department, Sub District Hospital, R.S Pura, catering to health needs of thousands, is suffering from acute deficiency of medical staff and medical facilities. Sources informed that the Anesthesia Wing of the hospital is non-functional as doctor incharge is on one-month's leave and there was no alternate arrangement. As far as pathology department is concerned, it is in a dilapidated condition and patients are forced to conduct tests from market at exorbitant rates. For ultra sound, people have to wait for months together to get their turn. Sources, however, pointed out some nexus between hospital and the private players. Sources also maintained that the government has appointed one doctor for Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), but the post is vacant from past seven years, leaving the health of the children at the mercy of God. Archana Sharma,a patient, rued that poor people were the sufferers as they could not afford the private hospital. Another patient Sheela Devi from far flung area of R.S Pura, Abdullian said that she was suffering from a gall bladder stone but did not get date for operation in absence of anesthesists. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Basant Kumar Sharma maintained that no major operations were being conducted as the concerned doctor for anesthesia was on one month leave. Only minor surgeries were conducted. He, however, denied any problem in pathology dispensary. |
