| HC awards life imprisonment in murder case | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 24: Additional Sessions Judge, Doda, Pawan Dev Kotwal today awarded life imprisonment to accused Prem Singh s/o Bhima Ram r/o Jajote Tehsil Doda for allegedly committing murder of his sister-in-law.
According to the prosecution case, accused Prem Singh in the absence of his brother Zulfi Ram, wanted to develop extra-marital relations with his sister-in-law deceased Pinki Devi and when the deceased objected , the accused during the intervening night October 1/2, 2002 entered into her room and strangulated her to death.
Additional Sessions Judge, Doda, Pawan Dev Kotwal after hearing counsels held that the ultimate goal of the Court in Criminal trial was to uncover the truth rather than to be swayed by technicalities of the procedure are were speculative probabilities or improbabilities or imaginations.
Keeping all the circumstances into consideration, the court observed that there were chances of reformation and rehabilitations of accused, and awarded rigorous imprisonment for life to accused Prem Singh and fine Rs 5000. —JNF |
