JPBEF denounces the new policies of RBI

The All India Bank Employee’s Association, the constituent of united forum of Bank union and Jammu province Bank Employee’s Federation held a dharna at Shalamar Chowk and denounced the decision of RBI about outsourcing of banking service, clearing operations, amendment to section 12 (2) of banking regulation act and demanded for filling up of vacancies in the banks a well as requested IBA to extend options for pension scheme to employees.
While addressing the employees of association, Gen Sec. of JPBEF Com. Ashwani Pradhan said that the instruction issued by RBI to all the banks in order to outsource almost all the normal banking jobs and services to private agencies can effect the job opportunities within country. This can jeopardize the interest of banking public. He pressed the need for more branches especially in the unbanked area.
According to Pradhan, RBI has decided to transfer rights of clearing operations to National Payment Corporation which is a private limited company, along with huge and costly assets and machinery. He said that there is no need to privatize the clearing operation because RBI itself along with SBI and other banks are handling the clearing operations with utmost efficiency and speed.
“Already the RBI has permitted FDI up to 74% in capital of banks and now proposed removal of ceeling on voting rights, there are perfect possibilities for FDI to take over our banks” he said and added that in the competitive scenario where banks are performing various new assignments, so RBI and central government should focus on fulfilling the vacant posts. He also requested for extending pension scheme option to such bank employees who have remained in provident find scheme.
He further added that the injustice meted out by the government has compelled the banking institutions in country to resort to agitation that is why they will resort to complete strike on 25th of July and send that the onus of the same lies on the government however, he regretted the inconvenience caused to general public.
