| Geelani's agitational programme aimed to sabotage Amarnath Yatra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 24: With Hurriyat Geelani announcing it's strike programme from tomorrow the situation in Kashmir valley seems deteriorating day by day. The programme of strike announced by Hurriyat hardliner faction is aimed at sabotaging the two month long holy Amarnath Yatra starting from July 1st. The Hurriyat hardliner faction which has emerged stronger among other separatist groups is enjoying the support of Pakistan. Paying a scant attention towards sufferings and miseries faced by common Kashmiris due to constant bandhs and strikes the Hurriyat leader wants to keep pot boiling and further the agenda of his mentors across the border. The another reason for the strike call given by Hurriyat hardliner faction according to sources is that Geelani wants to surpass the moderate faction of Hurriyat led by Moulvi Umar Farooq and other separatist factions like JKLF of Mohammed Yasin Malik and PDF of Shabir Ahmed Shah. Moreover the sources said Geelani wants to kill two birds with one stone. Besides trying to sabotage the holy Amarnath Yatra which he had already said should be confined to 15 days by raising the bogey of environmental pollution, the Geelani's another motto is to weaken the coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah. It may be recalled that the coalition Government led by Gulam Nabi Azad had to quit in 2008 after the Amarnath Land row gripped the state. This time the sources fear that hardliner faction of Hurriyat is trying to repeat the 2008 type situation to create a communal divide in the state who is also leaving no stone unturned to provoke the people of other region by his controversial statements. Keeping the mottos of Geelani in view the Government should show no leniency to him and his supporters. But unfortunately till date it has not taken any recourse to such measures. The lenient approach of the Government has emboldened Geelani who has raised certain objectionable issues and instigated the people to revolt against the Government. This straightway being the case of treason the Government should not wait in dealing with Geelani and his supporters under the law of land. Any delay in this way will precipitate the matter further and engulf the entire state into crisis. Geelani and his faction which has announced an agitation programme from tomorrow to July 3 has indicated to intensify it further on that day. This way he has made his intentions clear. But to counter him the government should take all primitive majors and did not aloe Geelani and his men to take the people for ransom to please his mentors across the border.
