Martyrs Football: RCF Kapurthala enters final | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, June 28: Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala in Punjab today entered the final of ongoing 12th J&K Police Martyrs' Memorial Football Tournament at Bakshi Stadium, here. In the second semi-final, played this afternoon, RCF Kapurthala trounced formidable side of J&K Forest 3-2 in second minute of the extra time after the match ended 2-2 draw in the stipulated time. Earlier, the visitors took first lead when Dilbag netted the ball in the 19th minute. The lead was soon leveled by J&K Forest through Azhar in the 27th minute. The state team not only equalized but went ahead in the 32nd minute with star striker, Shahnawaz scoring second goal for the team. However, the balanced side of RCF Kapurthala equaled the score in the 53rd minute when Jarmanjit Singh netted the ball completely beating the advancing goal-keeper. Levelled at 2-2, both sides made all out efforts to bring in a decider but failed to do so in the stipulated 90 minutes. It was only in the extra time that the semi-final was decided with RCF Kapurthala winning the game 3-2. Abishek scored the golden goal. Today's match was officiated by Nisar Hussain (centre referee), Farooq Khan, Mohd Yaseen (assistant referees) and Hilal Ahmad (reserve referee). It is pertinent to mention here that the improved side of J&K Forest upset the professional side of J&K Bank beating latter 1-0 in the quarterfinals. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Armed), J P Singh was special guest in today's semifinal match.
