3-Day International Conference on "Buddhist-Muslim Dialogue" begins | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT LEH, June 28: Religion is a code of conduct for the human beings to lead a peaceful life and therefore, every individual should know the fundamental principles of religion to live and let live others in peace and harmony. This was stated by the Minister for Tourism, Mr. Nawing Rigzin Jora after inaugurating a 3-Day International conference on Buddhist-Muslim Dialogue at Leh today which is organised by the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh in collaboration with Global Family for Love and Peace and Museum of World Religions, Taiwan. The Minister said that religion should be strictly a personal affair and it is for the mankind to be a good human being following the teachings of the religion, respecting each other's faith and lead a happy life.. Mr. Jora hoped that the out come of this conference would surely contribute to strengthen the Buddhist-Muslim relationship in particular and world peace in general. The Minister of State for Tourism, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani in his address termed this conference a great initiative to ensure peace among the co-existing religions and adding that such dailogues are very much needed in other parts of the world where the harmony is disturbed. Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpochey, who breifly attended the inaugural function of the conference, said that Ladakh has a good history of congenial relationship between the Buddhists and the Mulims. He strongly emphasized the need to maintain this model further by respecting each other's faith. The Dharma Master, Hsin Tao, founder, Museum of World Religion and President, Global Family for Love & Peace, Taiwan, the Member Parliament Ladakh, Mr. Hassan Khan, Prof. Ruben Habito from USA, Prof. Michael von Brueck from Germany, Moalana Umair Ahmed Ilyasi, president All India Organization of Imams of Mosques, New Delhi, Ven. Tokdan Rinpochey, President Ladakh Gonpa Association, President, LBA Mr. Lobzang Rinchen, President Moin ul Islam Leh Mr. Nazir Khan, Dr. Siddiq Wahid, Vice Chancellor, Muslim University J&K and representative from Immamia, Leh Mr. Syed Naqisha also spoke on the inaugural function. All the speakers welcomed and appreciated the initiatives of Ven Sanghasena for holding this historic dialogue in Ladakh and hoped that this will go a long way in further strengthening the Buddhist-Muslim relationship besides help for world peace. Earlier, the President, Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Leh Ven. Sanghasena highlighted the main objectives of this conference . Later, a panel discussion "Aspects of Buddhist-Muslim Relations in History and Modern Times' was held between the International, national and local scholars.
