Govt committed to promote Kashmiri language: Saroori | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KISHTWAR June 28 : Minister for Roads and Buildings G M Saroori has assured that government was committed to promote Kashmiri language at all levels. Mr Saroori was speaking at the concluding session of 31st Annual Conference of Adbee Markaz Kamraz, organised here in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Bank. He said that Kashmiri language has faced discrimination in past but "we are committed to promote it and whatever steps are to be taken, Government will not lag behind". He seconded the demand that Kashmiri language should be taught effectively in Kashmiri speaking areas of Jammu region as was being done in Kashmir. He lauded the efforts of Adbee Markaz Kamraz for holding the grand conference which was attended by nearly 500 writers, scholars and poets from all over India. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Education G A Peer said that his department was ready to introduce Kashmiri in Jammu region. "Books are ready and CEO's and ZEO"s should send their requisitions,'' he said, adding "he will personally see that the language is taught effectively". Noted writer Wali Mohammad Aseer Kishtwari also praised the AMK for its efforts. Presenting the annual report of AMK, its general secretary Dr Shujaat Bukhari said, "The borders of AMK are expanding beyond Valley. Its circle is widening. We are in the 40th year of foundation of AMK and there was no better way to celebrate it than to remember the sons of the invisible Kashmir." AMK president, Aziz Hajini stressed on the need for concerted intellectual response for the problems confronting the people. Meanwhile, several awards were given out for individual and organisational contributions towards the promotion of Kashmiri language. Renowned poet and academician Prof Margoob Banihali was awarded with "Sharfi Kamraz." The award comprised of a citation, certificate and a token amount. The Sharfi Kamraz award for organization was given to Kashur Adbee Markaz, Banihal for concerted efforts in the promotion of Kashmiri language. Manshoor Banihali received the award on behalf of the organization. The award of 'Khilat-i-Hanfi Sopori' was given to Meezan publishers for their contribution in publication of Kashmiri books, Moulvi Akhzar Hussain for his Kashmiri sermons on Friday's at different religious places and Secretary Education G A Peer for his contribution in implementation of Kashmiri as a subject in schools. Prof Mohiuddin Hajni Gold Medal sponsored by Kashmiri weekly, Sangarmal, was conferred on Ishfaq Ahmed Bhat, who topped the post graduate course in Kashmiri at University of Kashmir. Momentos were also presented to Gulam Saifi, young poet from Kishtwar and Farooq Rafiabadi for their efforts in making the conference a success. On the occasion, a collection of poems 'Subhai Subhai' by Habib Ullah Kumar was released by Minister for Roads and Buildings, G M Saroori. Sahitya Akademi, Department of Information and Radio Kahmir , Srinagar also supported the conference. Noted playwright Muhammad Amin Bhat compeered the proceedings . |
