Cracks in coalition getting loud | Soz snubs Sagar for blaming CRPF | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 28: In what can be seen as the cracks and cleavages between the allies of ruling coalition government in the state now becoming visible, veteran Congress leader Prof Saif-u-Din Soz today snubbed firebrand NC leader and cabinet minister Ali Mohammad Sagar apparently for his fiery 'uttering' against CRPF last night over killings in Kashmir. Soz, who is also chief of J&K PCC lambasted minister contending instead of blame game , the administration and police should 'declare itself as responsible for law and order of the state and not the security forces. "It is high time for J&K Police Administration to declare unequivocally that it is absoulutely responsible for maintaining law and order in the state, especially in Kashmir where, unfortunately, civilian killings have become a routine", Prof Soz asserted in his statement today, apparently hitting out at what Sagar had state a day back. It is pertinent to mention here that Sagar had brazenly blamed CRPF for killings and even termed them as having become 'unbridled and not obeying the orders of the state government'. However, in less than 24 hours of Sagar's statement, Soz today openly negated this allegation contending that "the Senior Minister in the Coalition Government Ali Mohammad Sagar's statement that CRPF was not obeying the orders of the Government has not produced any positive results on ground". What Soz has indicated is more than enough for NC to understand and follow too. However, this subtle reprimand has also come at a time when the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah himself has chosen to talk about the 'role of CRPF in the state during the past few days' with none other than Home Minister of the country. Prof Soz, who has all through been greasing the wheels of the coalition in capacity of senior Congress leader and member of Coordination Committee ,upset over Sagar's tone and tenor has not only negated the what all Sagar has said about CRPF but also questioned the statement of the minister, saying "The veracity of the Minister's statement can be verified only when the J&K Police corroborates the assertion," The senior Congress leader, perhaps asserting for the first time as leader of the major coalition ally has asked the J&K Police administration to declare "that it unequivocally is absolutely responsible for maintaining law and order in the state, especially in Kashmir where, unfortunately, civilian killings have become a routine". Calling a spade aspade, Soz even went on to the extent of saying "it is for the J&K Police to seek help from whatever quarters it needs." "The persons responsible in the system to maintain peace must be appreciated…any attempt at blame game at this critical time will complicate matters further," he added. The statements of the two veteran leader of major allies in the coalition not only reflect the differences getting loud over matters of governance but also goes on to show that both the parties are going in different directions both in terms of their perception about the situation turning tense and ugly by the day as well as the measures to tackle and handle it. However, even as this reprimand came today from Prof Soz, Ali Mohammad Sagar, quite surely having realized what Congress means, today himself came out with a statement quite reverse to what he said last night, almost in defense of CRPF and security agencies in dealing with the situation. He said while addressing a joint press conference with Congress minister Taj Mohi-udin today. |
