Rajouri scribes hold public darbar

RAJOURI, June 30: For first time in border district of Rajouri, scribes have taken an initiative to hold public darbar on the pattern of official government darbars to know the grievances of the people and communicate the same to the officials for their redressal. The Journalists have also launched campaign in far-flung areas regarding awareness of Right to Information Act and various other central sponsored schemes.
In its first-ever darbar, which is likely to be followed every week, Rajouri Press Council (RPC) discussed various issues regarding National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Public Health Engineering, health services and pension related matters with the public at Prori village in Kotranaka tehsil of Rajouri. Hundreds of Prori residents participated in the event.
Rajouri Press Council headed by Tazeem Dar along with other members held an open air public darbar at Prori village where the public highlighted various issues.
RPC president, Tazeem Dar said that the area is neglected by the authorities and the residents are facing acute problems in all sectors.
He said that they have initiated a programme of Media Darbar in Rajouri in which Rajouri Press Council would interact with the people on every week in far-flung areas, adding that they are also creating awareness among the public regarding RTI and other centrally sponsored schemes.
Meanwhile, residents of Prori alleged that Rural Development Department is befooling people on the name of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. They said that no labourer of the area have been given wages of the work.
The residents also alleged that RDD had misled the District Development Commissioner on the already exposed "scam" of Rs 3.82 crore in NREGA. They alleged that the report submitted by the Assistant Commissioner Development is totally misleading the investigation in the scam must be conducted through CBI or any other independent agency.
