| AWWA Diwali mela commences | | |

The AWWA Diwali Mela which commenced at Udhampur form 17 October 06 was graced today by Lieutenant General Deepak Kapoor, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC-in-C Northern Command and President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Northern Command Kirti Kapoor. Other dignitaries were also present during the occasion. The Army wives through the forum of AWWA, which is a registered NGO and a volunteer organisation, provide an unstinted support to their husbands in maintaining sustainable bond of camaraderie in the organisation. It also takes up multifaceted activities aimed towards holistic development and well being of Army wives, children and rehabilitation of Veer Naris. Asha Schools which cater to the developmental needs of differently abled children is one of the many ventures undertaken by AWWA. The mela had numerous stalls put up by the Northern Command AWWA which included a stall of items produced by the children of Asha school.
