| BJP HANG EFFIGIES OF GURU | | |
Jammu, October 20 Notwithstanding heavy downpour, workers of BJP on Friday went ahead with the symbolic hanging of Mohd Afzal Guru, convict in the Parliament attack case at mandal levels in Jammu. In Jammu city the party organized programmes at all the five mandals at Purani Mandi Chowk,Old Janipur,Maheshpura chowk ,Gangyal chowk and city chowk. The BJP workers were lead by their mandal presidents where effigies of Mohd Afzal Guru were publically hanged at the said places. Later addressing party workers at the said places, Mandal presidents said that Afzal Guru has been held guilty in Parliament attack case and hence he deserves no sympathy or clemency. They said that some leaders of political parties particularly GhulamNabi Azad,Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mufti Mohd Sayeed and the valley based separatist are demanding clemency for Afzal Guru only to appease people of a particular faith for political gains only. They said all these leaders who are either occupying important posts or who had been on important chairs in the past are shedding crocodile tears for cheap publicity also. Such an approach adopted by these leaders towards a convict shows how much respect they have for the Indian Parliament and the judiciary. They said that the grant of clemency to such a criminal will only encourage the anti-national elements and demoralize those who have been sacrificing their lives for the unity and integrity of the country. The aprty leaders also urged the President not to succumb to the politically motivated pressure and ensure that no mercy is given to Afzal Guru.BJP state unit President Dr Nirmal Singh said that the hanging of Guru’s effigies manifested our anger against the delay in the implementation of the court
