| Another exorbitant purchase unearthed in Technical Education department | | SVO registers case against the purchase committee | | Srinagar, October 20 State Vigilance Organization today registered a case against Mr. Ghulam Hassan Khan, Director Technical Education, J&K, Mr. Rajesh Gupta (FA & CAO Education Department), Mtr. Yasmeen Hassan Wani, Principal Women Polytechnic Srinagar, Shri Sharad Chnader, Principal Boys Polytechnic Jammu, Shri Raiz-ul-Amin, Deputy Director (Central) Technical Education, Shri Raman Kumar Gupta, AO Directorate of Technical Education all member of the State Level Purchase Committee (SLPC) and a local supplier Shri Gouse Qadri, Proprietor M/s Kaiser Impex, Bund Srinagar for purchase of 67 stitch machines on highly exorbitant rates thereby causing a loss of Rs. 5 Lakhs to the state exchequer. Brief facts of the case are that Directorate of Technical Education J&K in the year 2005 purchased 67 numbers of stitch machines (Usha Automatic, Janome, Japan) at an highly exorbitant rate of Rs. 22,500/- instead of Rs. 13,150/- which was the prevalent market rate at the time of purchase. The members of the purchase committee also did not verify the credentials of M/s Kasier Impex, Bund Srinagar who was not the members of the SLPC of Directorate of Technical Education have caused loss to the state exchequer and accrued illegal gain to the supplier for pecuniary benefits. Case FIR No. 42/2006 U/S 5(2) P.c. Act r/w 120-b RPC P/S VOK have been registered and investigation taken up. |
