NSF demands inquiry into posting of lecturers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 14 : National Secular Forum (NSF) today staged a protest in the University Campus to express dissatisfaction over the functioning of the School Education Department and reiterated its demand of a high-level inquiry into the recently made adjustments in 10+2 lecturers' postings. A large number of NSF activists led by their president Vikas Sharma shouted slogans against the government and torched the effigy of Minister for School Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed. The Forum activists further demanded removal of Director School Education (DSE), Jammu Zahida Khan for her alleged large scale corruption in the School Education Department. Addressing the protesters, Vikas Sharma claimed that DSE has recently made adjustments in the 10+2 lectures cadre only after receiving "bribe" to place the incumbents at their desirable places. "What was the need of making modifications in the adjustments made in wake of joining of new candidates as school lecturers?" questioned the NSF leader alleging that modifications were made within 15 days of issuing adjustment orders. "Those, who were adjusted or posted at Doda, Poonch and other far flung areas on their first posting were called back and posted in Jammu and its outskirts within the fortnight. When they were first posted at other places then why they brought back," Vikas Sharma said and asserted that modification in the adjustments was the clear example of rampant corruption in the School Education Department. He also targeted Minister of School Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed for his alleged nepotism and corruption in School Education Department, adding that earlier it was the "Rural Electrification Scam" during his tenure as Rural Development Minister and this time there will be rather big scam in the Education Department if the enquiry is probed in the entire issue. "We urge the Chief Minister to look into the matter and order an impartial inquiry in the recently made adjustments in the 10+2 lecturers' postings," said NSF president. He warned that the NSF would continue its protest till the state government announces a Crime Branch or independent inquiry into the alleged scam. |
