BJP having 'secret pact with NC, behaving like its 'C' team: JKNPP | Panthers 'roar' at Saffron brigade
| | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 15: A day after BJP extended its 'whole hearted' support to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his peace initiatives, the Party has been caught on wrong foot by a rival Jammu based party .In what can be seen as an accusation that can turn into political wrangling and kick start bickering between the two Jammu based parties in opposition, the J&K National Panthers Party today termed BJP as mouthpiece of ruling National Conference which is engaged in furthering the interests of latter. The 'Panthers' apparently in roaring mode and mood have also alleged that the 'Saffron Brigade' is functioning in manner of proxy NC in Jammu and their role is 'double and dubious'. Panthers' accusations, interestingly have come at a juncture when BJP leadership has been 'supportive' and appreciative of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his peace building initiatives in the wake of Kashmir crisis that erupted a month back and took the entire state machinery and masses by storm. Surprisingly, JKNPP has also expressed unhappiness and displeasure over the fact that BJP not only attended the All Party meeting meeting convened by Omar but also thoroughly supported him. What has infuriated the Panthers leadership is the BJP's crictical observation about the parties which did not attend the All party meeting. "BJP is the 'C' team of National conference and promoting the interests and prospects of National Conference in Jammu region………", J&K Panthers Party leaders including legislators accused while virtually 'roaring' at the BJP while speaking to reporters here today. Questioning the locus of BJP in disputing the stand of JKNPP regarding non-participation in all party meet convened by Omar Abdullah,' the JKNPP asked the BJP to explain its status as a political party in the state. "JKNPP is playing the role of vibrant, effective and vociferous opposition while as BJP stood exposed for its dubious and double role", Harsh Dev Singh said adding that it owed an explanation as to why it was so concerned about success of Omar Abdullah's meeting and has been over-zealous in condemning the non-participation of opposition parties. Expressing dismay over the outbursts of BJP in questioning JKNPP stand, the JKNPP Legislators Harsh Dev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yashpual Kundal said that BJP leadership must perform the role entrusted to them by the Jammu people and stop behaving as mouthpiece and tout of National Conference. "BJP's outbursts were only indicative of its utter frustration and its growing realization that it was fast loosing ground……..", the Panthers Party MLAs observed. Accusing BJP of acting as NC's proxy, Harsh Dev Singh went on to the extent of alleging that the role and conduct of state BJP leadership had proved that their press releases were drafted in NC office and their press statements were duly tailor made and edited by National Conference leadership. Whipping up the 'Jammu base' card, the NPP MLAs regretted that despite a massive mandate from Jammu region, "the BJP had miserably failed in fighting for Jammu cause and in coming up to people's expectations. …… BJP leadership had failed not only inside the Legislature but outside as well in projecting the issues of Jammu people and had totally surrendered before the NC-Congress coalition for petting personal gains…..". BJP owed an explanation to the people for its poor performance, its failure to keep its commitments and for its double standards, the Panthers party leaders alleged. The fiery leader of the Party Harsh Dev Singh even alleged that BJP had entered into a secret pact with NC and was playing a 'friendly match' with it as its 'C' team, the 'B' team status having been already occupied by Congress. " It is only JKNPP which was an aggressive crusader for Jammu and had been championing the cause of Jammu people most vociferously inside the Legislature as well as outside".he added claiming that it was JKNPP alone which vigorously agitated over the issues like Delimitation, unequal allocation of Assembly and Parliament seats for Jammu region, imbalances in devolution of powers, inequality in development works, unequal share in employment and in professional institutions, discrimination in road connectivity and bias in tourism promotion…..
