EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 15: At least 36 persons, including 11 women, were today wounded, three of them critically, when a bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road at Amro in Ramnagar area of Udhampur and plunged into a deep gorge. The ill-fated bus (JK02AF/5361) was on its way from Samna Banj village to Ramnagar. Police sources said the bus fell into the gorge at about 7 am when its driver Jasbir Singh alias Sonu failed to negotiate a sharp curve. With the help of locals, cops led by ASI Kakka Ram, incharge Ramnagar police station, carried out the rescue operation, the sources added. All the injured were shifted to the sub-district hospital, Ramnagar, in police and civil vehicles. The driver, who escaped unhurt, fled the spot. Raids were being conducted to nab him. He hails from Jophad, Ramnagar. The injured were identified as Guddi Devi, Maqbool, Sardara Begum, Inayat Ullah, Ashok Kumar, Raghu, Kartar Singh, Varinder Singh, Rattan Lal, Mohammad Hussain, Kartar Chand, Goru, Shakuntla Devi, Romesh, Hukam Chand, Amar Nath, Pritam Singh, Rano, Mansa Ram, Bishan Dass, Lajwanti, Nirmala, Savitri Devi, Jeetu, Surju, Nek Ram, Charan Dass, Sita Devi, Yashpal, Prem Nath, Mohammad Sharief, Shano Devi, Kaushalaya Devi, Bishno Devi, Loku and Latief. Three of them were referred to the Udhampur district hospital following deterioration in their condition. They were identified as Savitri Devi, Kartar Chand and Mohammad Sharief. A case in this connection stands registered at the Ramnagar police station.
