Mufti meets PM ahead of his New York trip
10/22/2006 10:24:51 PM
Srinagar, October 22
Ahead of his New York trip scheduled for October 29 this year, PDP Chief Patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Saturday called on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at his 7- race course road official residence at Delhi.
Member Parliament and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present in the meeting which started at around 9.00 A.M and last for one hour. Sayeed is part of an Indian delegation scheduled to participate in a UN session in New York by October end this year. The PDP supremo discussed at length his party's self rule proposal for which he has constituted a draft committee headed by former Deputy Chief Minister and senior party leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig.
Among other issues, matters related to working of Congress lead Coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Gh Nabi Azad of which PDP is a major ally and current political scenario of the state came up for discussion during the meeting. IT would not be out of place to mention here that Sayeed held a similar meeting with Congress President Sonia Gandhi early this month.
