| Farooq holds PDP leaders responsible for erosion of internal autonomy, article 370 | | | Srinagar, October 22 National Conference Chief Patron and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah while blaming the PDP leader for eroding internal autonomy of the state and article 370 guaranteeing a special status to Jammu & Kashmir State within the Union of India said 'these are the people who changed the nomenclature of Sadr-e-Reyasat and Prime Minister and abolished State Election Commidssion besides eroding the autonomy of judiciary". Addressing a rally organized in connection with second death anniversary of former minister and senior party leader Sabdar Ali Baig at Anantnag , Abdullah said National Conference has made huge sacrifices for safeguarding autonomy. The party choose to bow out of power and passed a resolution for restoration of autonomy in the state assembly, lamented Abdullah. The PDP Chief Patron, according to Abdullah, preferred power and demolished the very edifice of autonomy. Terming Indo-Pak friendship very important for restoration of peace and stability in the state, he said people of Jammu & kashmir are the victims of 17 year old current phase of armed violence and earlier resolution of long pending Kashmir issue is the only way out. Exuding confidence that justice will be allowed to prevail in case of the hanging of Afzal Guru, Abdullah hoped that Government will allow Guru to defend himself and stressed for giving due consideration to the overwhelming public opinion. Addressing the gathering, National Conference Provincial President Dr Mehboob Baig said the slogan of self rule is baseless and a policy of political deceit. Elaborating he said " father and daughter duo are placing old wine in a new bottle". The senior National Conference leaders laid floral wreaths on the grave of late Sabdar Baig and participated in a fateh khawani congregation.
