Consider promotion of teachers to lecturers: HC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 17 : The high court today directed the education department to to consider promotion of teachers to lecturers. The order was passed in a petition filed by teachers/masters working as teachers/ masters in different Govt school of Jammu province and have acquired Master's Degree in science while employed with permission of the respondents. The petitioners' grevience is that they have acquired the Degree of Science from Annamalai University and respondents without any reason or lawful justification intend to exclude the petitioners from consideration for promotion to the post of lecturers. Advocate WS Nargal during the course of arguments submitted that the Annamalai University from which the petitioners have obtained the Master's Degree, is recognized by the University Grants Commission and is also a member of Association of Indian Universities and that the degrees awarded by the University cannot be ignored. Justice Ghulam Hasnain Massodi after hearing the petitioners held that having regard to averments made in the petition, the respondents shall subject to objections to the application, accord consideration to the petitioners for their promotion to the next higher post lecturers in the event any promotions are contemplated.
