| Life imprisonment for murder accused | | |

JAMMU, July 17:A murder accused was today sentenced to life imprisonment by the court of sessions judge, Reasi.
He was identified as Ramesh Thakur, son of Jaswant Thakur, of Ram Park in Gaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Giving details, police sources said that on December 4, 2005, one Raj Kumar Adhlakha of Patel Nagar, Gaziabad, approached Katra police station SHO with a written complaint as regards the murder conspiracy.
He said on December 3, 2005, three persons, including a female, had checked in a hotel at about 10 am. Room No 104, given to them, was booked in the name of Hira Singh of Delhi.At about 6 pm, the female checked out along with a male and went towards the Katra Bus Stand. The body of the second person was later recovered from behind some torn mattresses lying on the hotel's
first floor.
Acting on Adhlakha's complaint, police had reached the spot and removed the body to hospital mortuary. Inquest proceedings were initiated in the case under section 174 of CrPC.
Probe into the case was handed over to ASI Inder Singh. During investigation into the case, he unravelled the whole mystery.
Sources said Romesh had illicit relations with Rachna for three years. Her parents, however, married her to Hira Singh of Sultanpuri Nagoli, Delhi.Upset over the marriage, Rachna and Romesh conspired to kill Hira.
As per the plan, they decided to visit Vaishno Devi together.Sources said while they checked in Room No 104 of International Hotel, Romesh ordered waiter to bring tea.When the waiter brought three cups of tea, Hira was in the toilet. Sources said as per the plan, they mixed sleeping pills in Hira's
cup and gave it to him when he came out of the toilet.The moment he finished tea, he fell unconscious. Soon thereafter, Rachna caught hold of Hira's legs, while Romesh strangulated him,
resulting in his instant death. They then dumped the body behind the mattresses and fled the hotel.
Both of them were, however, later arrested by police.Sources said as the case was investigated by the ASI and SHO, Katra police station, in a highly professional manner, the main accused
