| Khoya plant seized, 7 accused held | | Police allegedly hushing up case | | BISHNAH | OCT 22 Police raided a ‘ Khoya Plant’, and arrested seven persons involved in preparing adulterated Khoya. Five qtl of dry milk and five qtl of adulterated khoya were seized from the plant during mid-night raid in village Khariyan, falling under the jurisdiction of Bishnah police. According to reports some local inhabitants informed the police about the plant involved in manufacturing of adulterated khoya. A police party immediately swing into action and seized the machinery along with adulterated khoya dry milk. During the raid, police apprehended seven persons working in the plant for questioning. Those arrested include Kulbeer Singh, S/o Krishan Singh, R/o Khariyan Tarseem Singh S/o Veer Singh, Harpreet Singh S/Tarim Singh, Manjeet Singh S/o Laxman Singh, Surinder Singh, S/o Labhoo Singh and Gurjeet Singh S/o Satnam Singh all residents of Chambal tehsil Taran Taran, Punjab. Police also seized a Tatamobile vehicle No. PB02AS-9828, used in supplying adulterated khoya. All the accused were lodged in police station Bishnah for interrogation. During preliminary interrogation the accused confess that they were manufacturing adulterated khoya for sale in Jammu market. According to reports police have not so for registered a case in this regard. As the plant is owned by a relative of Sr. police officer. It may be recalled that some days back Domana police had also seized plant including in manufacturing of duplicate khoya and had seized large quantity of material. Despite, doctors advice against used of adulterated khoya, the trade is flourishing especially during festivals. The reports suggest that police though aware about the function of ill-legal plants has been shielding the owners for the reason best know to them. According to authentic reports, police is trying to hush-up the case, due to some pressures so much so these arrest in last night raids have supply been locked up in police station, without registering case against the owner or accused. When ‘Early Times’ contacted the police incharge of the area, he confirmed the seized of the material, adding that the same ahs been sent to laboratory. He said, after receiving the report, further action in the matter will be initiated.
