Govt Officers turned traders in Poonch! | | | Early Times report Rajouri, July 21: Some government officials particularly engaged with Cross-LoC Trade duty at Poonch have directly or indirectly established their links in Pakistan Administered Kashmir and had managed registration of Trading Companies on the name of their family members so that to carryout business by themselves with the traders of PAK. These trade officers are also receiving payments directly into their account numbers. Sources said that following starting of trade between India and Pakistan via Muzafer-Uri and Poonch-Rawalkote routes, various trade officers and officials get their family members registered to carryout trade on their name and these officials have allegedly earned hefty wealth from this trade. Sources said that Roofi Trader Main Company registered for Cross-LoC Trade belongs to one Rahoof Ahmed Khan son of Mohammad Matloob Khan, former Custodian of Cross-LOC Trade and present Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch. JA General Store owned by Javed Ahmed son of Mohammad Rasheed resident of Chandak- a senior official in the office of Custodian Cros-LoC Trade Poonch. Mohammad Rasheed has also reportdely get registration of another company namely Qadaria Enterprises Chandak on the name of his another son Jahangir Ahmed. Sources said that BR Trading Company was earlier registered on the name of Bimla Rani wife of Deepak Kumar- an employee with Custodian Cross-LoC Trade and now he has managed to transfer its ownership to his another close relative Yogesh Kumar. Sources said that various other government officers and officials of Education and Fisheries department are also involved in trading directly or indirectly with the traders of PAK. Some have even got the money transferred on its personal account. As per sources, Functional Manager (FM) of Cross-LoC Trade, Munir Hussain Khan has get Rs 4.95 lakh cheque reportdely of the trade consignment. Sources said that cheque No 665077 amounting to Rs. 495300/- was credited into the account number 11447263074 (Product: SBCHQ-GEN-PUB-IND-NONRURAL-INR-Poonch) of State Bank of India Code Branch number 3660. The account number belongs to Munir Hussain Khan Resident of Kalani Poonch who happens to be Functional Manager of Cross-LoC Trade. Sources said that Munir Hussain Khan has get Unique Traders Company registered on the name of his brother Abdul Khaliq. "The trade is being carried out by the officer not by his brother and money is also being received by the Manager in his account", a trader disclosed on the condition of anonymity. Sources said that the Unique Traders Company has trade links with Choudhary Kabir of Rawalkote. One Ram Charan and Satpal Traders Jammu are also getting the consignment from Choudhary Kabir, sources said. When contacted, Munir Hussain Khan admitted that the transaction of Rs 4.95 lakh has taken place but defended saying his brother had demanded him Rs 5 lakh but he managed only Rs 2.50 lakh and remaining amount was given him by another brother. He said that this transaction is the same money being refunded to him by his brother. However the transaction was not made from the bank account of his brother but a trader of Jammu, sources said. Meanwhile sources said that though one cannot make cash payments above Rs 19000 to anyone according to Bank and Income tax rules, making payments of Rs 2.50 lakh in cash has put question mark on statement in FM defense. Rangeet Singh, Custodian of the Cross-LoC Trade admitted that some close relatives of the government officials including trade related officials are trading on Cross-LoC route. He however said that no official is directly involved in the trade practice.
