Dy. CM for inculcating sportsman spirit among youth

JAMMU, July 21:Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said that education and sports are concomitant for overall personality development. He said that healthy youth can take the society to new heights and sports not only prepares healthy bodies but also inculcates a sense of sportsman spirit in them.
Tara Chand said this at the concluding function of Lala Mulkh Raj Saraf Night Cricket Tournament held at D.B.N School Ground, Mubarak Mandi. The tournament was organized by Peace Foundation (Volunteer Organization).
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister congratulated the organizers of the tournament for the event and said that future belongs to the Youth and healthy youngsters can play positive role in Nation Building. He said that such events help promote sports talent of local youth and gives them an ideal platform to showcase their talent. Sportspersons from state have proved their mettle at international and national levels and the State is proud of them, he added.
Underscoring the need to develop proper sports infrastructure in the State, Tara Chand said that Government is fully geared up for all round development of the state and the sports sector is given its due share. He further added that the work on Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex is going on at fast pace and it would be a major tourist attraction of the State. The Cable car project and creation of Lake would further add to the map of tourist attractions in the city.
While speaking on the occasion President Peace foundation Narinder Sharma thanked the deputy Chief Minister for providing lights to the ground and sanctioning funds for its upkeep. He said that Peace foundation would be organizing such events on regular basis in the memory of great Dogra personalities.
The Deputy Chief Minister who was Chief Guest at the function watched the final match and later distributed prizes among the winners.
The function was attended among others by Former Minister, Chowdhary Gharu Ram, Senior Journalist, Om Saraf, Ex - Corporator, Ms. Lalita Sharma, Principal D.B.N School, Suresh K. Sharma and other senior citizens and prominent personalities of the area.
