HM man held with wireless sets | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 21: A Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) worker was today arrested by police at Banihal while he was going to hand over a consignment of wireless sets to the outfit's district commander Qari Zubair at a place fixed in forests. He was identified as Abdul Latief Malik, son of Ghulam Mohammad Malik, of Shagun Khari, Banihal. Acting on a tip-off that a consignment was being transported from Srinagar to Khari in Banihal, cops laid a naka at Nachlana. Police sources said sighting the cops, a man got down from a bus when it was about 50 ft short of the checking point and started walking hurriedly in the opposite direction. The cops got suspicious of him and held him after a long chase, the sources added. His search led cops to the recovery of four Motorola wireless sets, two binoculars and one cell phone. During interrogation, he disclosed that the consignment was to be delivered to Hm district commander Qari Zubair. Sources said after getting down from the bus at Khari, he was to go the village forests to hand over the items to the HM commander. His sustained interrogation was on. A case was registered against him at the Banihal police station under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Wireless and Telegraph Act.
