BJP hits back at NC for relating Autonomy with 'protests' Alleges party furthering 'agenda' of anti nationals | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 23 : A day after ruling National Conference working committee came out with a resolution reiterating Autonomy as the solution for Kashmir imbroglio, BJP came down heavily upon the NC leadership alleging that by relating it to the recent trouble in Kashmir, NC was only furthering the cause of 'anti national elements'. The leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta denounced the National Conference resolution to make the Autonomy as bases for restoration of peace in the troubled Kashmir and friendly ties with Pakistan. This, he alleged, indicated that the leader of the NC-Congress Coalition were also part of the game plan which was leading the Valley to turmoil. Prof. Gupta alleged that NC move indicates that its leaders want to achieve from the said situation what they could not get by raising "highly contentious and controversial slogans right from 1953……. they intend to get through ani-national elements to distance Jammu and Kashmir from rest of rest of India", Gupta observed. Making his point, the BJP leader pointed out that the fundamentalists and antinational elements in the Valley had been indulging in various kinds of violence and hartals, and constantly raising the boggey of violation of human rights. But instead of firmly dealing with such elements the ruling leaders of the Congress-NC too, had been joining the chorus and parroting that violation of human rights would not be tolerated, he said adding that Coalition had also been in the forefront in maligning the forces fighting the proxy war launched from across the border and creation of a serious situation by the fundamental lists and separatists. The Government did not act against slogan mongers and law breakers until they gained upper hand over the situation. The situation would not have assumed such a serious proportions and the human lives would not have been lost had the government been serious, the BJP leader added. Prof Gupta said it was quite strange that the rank and file of the two Coalition parties as also the entire Government machinery was 'maneuvered' to get poor response to the Bandh call given early this month by the Jammu Sangarsh Samiti and on the contrary no one of the Coalition partners came out to condemn the stone pelters and take steps to ensure failure of the unending bandh calls and civil curfew enforced by the secessionists in valley. The entire approach of the coalition leaders make the whole issue questionable as it was their moral duty to act to enforce the law and order, and work for establishing the constitutional authority of the Government. In his sharp reaction over the Autonomy issue, Prof. Gupta said that it was a closed chapter. Late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah had resumed power in wake of the Indra-Sheikh Accord of 1975, and it was buried during NDA rule when the Autonomy Resolution was rejected by the Vajpayee led dispensation at the Centre. The slogans of Azadi, Autonomy Self Rule etc., are the outcome of communal mindset and nationalist India can hardly afford such moves, the BJP leader observed. He also said that the separate status of the State has caused more harm then any good to the people of the State. It has only encouraged the forces hostile to the unity and integrity of the country. |
