JJSF protests hike in passenger fares | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 23 : Expressing concern over the hike in passenger fares, Jammu Joint Students' Federation (JJSF) today held protest demonstrations in different colleges of the city. The colleges where students protested against the increase in passenger fares include Govt M A M College, G G M Science College, SPMR College of Commerce and Govt Degree College Paloura. Students of MAM College boycotted their classes under the leadership of JJSF leader Varinder Singh (JJSF leader). All the students gathered in front of college gate and raised slogans against State Government. Addressing the gathered students, Varinder Singh said that the hike in Transport fare is a big burden on student community. Similar protests were also staged at Govt Degree College Paloura, GGM Science College and SPMR College of Commerce where the students of these institutions also came out of their classes under the banner of JJSF and started raising slogans against authorities. Rallies taken out from all the colleges culminated at SPMR College of Commerce where a heavy pose of police was deployed to stop the protesters to march ahead. Speaking on the occasion state vice president JJSF Partap Singh Jamwal said that recently the fee structure of all the courses was hiked and fees of examination, revaluation and cost of books were also increased and hike in fares is a new burden on student community.
