Before 'darshans', devotees in Rajouri face MC's garbage | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, July 23 : Having no disposing off system for garbage of Rajouri city, Municipal Committee Rajouri are unloading garbage vehicles in front of holy place for Hindus-Doodhadhari Temple which has not only become a problem for general public but also for those who come to temple for getting spiritual freshness. Municipal Committee Rajouri has no dumping place in the area and they feel it better to unload trucks of garbage in front of a religious place-Dooda Dhari Temple where devotees get bad odour coming out from the garbage. Though Municipal Committee vehicles unload this garbage daily on the bank of stream of Darhal running in the middle of the city, stinking smell has polluted the whole area. People who visit this place early in the morning for walk and getting fresh oxygen are getting foul smell. The early walkers have to cover their mouth while passing through this area. "Bad smell always comes out of the garbage especially in early morning when they used to go on walk in the area but now I am planning to avoid morning walk in the area only because of air pollution in the area due to garbage smell", Mahinder Singh a nearby resident said. Residents said that despite the area is having a renowned religious place and there need fresh and pollution free environment, they are getting polluted air. Temple authorities have also shown their anger over the administration and they are likely to file Public Interest Litigation in court against the administration and MC Rajouri for polluting the religious place area. "This is conspiracy to pollute a religious place and we are going to file PIL against district and MC administration", Thakur Kamal Singh, President of Baba Dhooda- Dhari Ashram Rajouri said giving an ultimatum to the administration to act or face the court. Thakur Kamal Singh said that throwing garbage in the open air is giving wrong message which too in front of Mandir. Though commuters feel uneasy to walk through the area, residents residing Salani Bridge and Tariq Bridge area are also feeling bad to stay in their houses. "We cannot eat, we can not sleep, we cannot walk as the garbage smell has polluted whole the area which has become a big problem for us", Niaz Mohammad a resident near Salani Bridge said. Local Congress leader of the area, Sajjad Tariq has expressed concern over open air disposal of garbage in his area. He said that people are feeling bad with this and administration should arrange a proper dumping place for the same. "I have informed Pollution Control Board in written two times but they have shown no seriounessness in the matter", Sajjad Tariq said adding that they are school near the area and facing a lot of problem from this bad odor. "It is surprising that Pollution Control Board Office is just few meters away from this open air dumping place of MC Rajouru but they are only watiching the daily unload of garbage vehicles which are badly polluting the area", he added. Over the dumping of garbage in front of religious place, PDP leader Tazeem Dar has also said that unloading garbage in front of a religious place is giving bad message and Pollution Control Board and MC Rajouri should immediately change this place for garbage unloading . "This is also threat for aqua life and fishes and other aqua life", Tazeem Dar said appealing District Development Commissioner GA Khawaja to intervene and arrange funds for the proper dumping place in Rajouri. |
