| HC quashes detention | | |

Jammu, JULY 23 : Justice Hasnain Massodi of Jammu & Kashmir High Court (Jammu Wing) today quashed the detention of Ghulam Ahmed Mir alias Zia Mir s/o Abdul Aziz Mir r/o Thanamandi District Rajouri.
Mir was accused of being an over ground worker of Hizbul Mujahideen and detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) on September 16, 2008by the concerned district magistrate.
The petitioner challenged the detention order on various grounds. He also apprised the court that the incidents that also formed grounds of detention had actually taken place in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2004 respectively. In the 2004 the detenue was booked under FIR No 129/2004 u/s Enemy Agents Ordinance. Justice Hasnain Massodi after hearing Advocate HA Siddqui appearing for the petitioner and AAG Mr. Gagan Basotra for the state, allowed the petition and the detention order No 13 of 2008 dated September 16, 2008 was quashed.
