| Include Lubana community in OBC category: Farooq | | IX Guru Identification day observed | |

“No religion preach hatred among the people, instead they (Religion) guide the humanity to live in peace and harmony”, said Former Chief Minister and Member Parliament Dr. Farooq Abdullah at Guru Ladho Re Divas-06 function held at village Kotli Shah Daula at R S Pura here today. The function was attended by a large gathering of people from the nearby areas.
Appreciating Sikh biradari, Farooq said that this community has never begged before anyone and instead, generate its own resources to build Gurudwaras. He expressed grief over the way new Sikh generation is sidelining the very basic (5K’s) of their religion. He emphasized on the community members to adhere to the basics of the religion and strengthen the brotherhood and unity with each other. He also assured the Lubana community to raise the issue of their inclusion into the OBC category with Chief Minister and in Parliament also.
Earlier, the today’s function started with Bhog Sri Akhand Path followed by Gurbani Kirtan. The siropa were given to the honouring guests and persons for historic contribution to the biradari. A langar was also organized on the occasion. Rattan Singh, Member Parliament from Ajnala, Punjab while speaking also emphasized on the Sikh community to remain united and maintain the amity. He also demanded the inclusion of Lubana community in the OBC category.
Bibi Jagir, MLA from Punjab donated Rs. One lakh to Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee. Among other present on the occasion were Tarlochan Singh Wazir, MLC and President Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Harbans Singh, Ex Minister and Senior NC leader, Makhan Singh, Prabandhak DGPC, Santokh Singh, T S Toni and others.
