NPP MLAs hold dharna in DDB meet Samba

JAMMU, July 25: NPP MLAs Harsh Dev Singh and Yash Paul Kundal staged a dharna in the district development Board meeting Samba in protest against the callous and discriminatory attitude of the state Govt. towards Jammu region and it's development related issues. The MLAs continued their dharna and protest demonstration for 30 minutes accusing the collation govt. of bias and discrimination accused the Jammu based Ministers of total surrender and sell out before Kashmiri leadership. The MLA s also protested the non-implementation of cabinet-cum DDB decisions of last year taken under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Harsh Dev Singh strongly condemned the gvot. For neglect of Mansar Lake in the matter of allocation of fun despite assurance of the Chief Minister. Later, participating in the discussion, Harsh Dev Singh said that while the govt. had provided Rs.1100 crore for Dal lake, Rs.386 crore for Wullar Lake, besides projecting a scheme of Rs.2500 crore for Jhelum River beautification project, it had totoally neglected the lakes and waterways of Jammu region including Mashar Lake, Dalsar Lake and Surinsar lake announcing only peanuts for River Tawi Poroject. He demanded a package of Rs.300 crore for conservation and beautification of Mansar Lake and adequate funding for Dalsar and Surinasar Lakes. Harsh Dev Singh questioned the modus operandi followed by the sate government for allocation for funds to various districts during the course of ongoing District Development Board meetings in the various districts of the state. He said that the funds are being released to various districts in the most arbitrary and irrational manner much to the prejudice of Jammu region districtys. He said that funds allocated to districts on whims and fancies of reulers without adhering to any set of norms and criteris. He said that districts of Jammu region were provided peanuts in the DDB meets and were the major causalities of the authoritarian, arbitrary and highly biased approach adopted for devolution of development funds. Harsh Dev Singh further demanded immediate establishment of polytechnic college in Samba and inclusion of Samba Mandis in Municipal Council besides adequate funding for Veer Bhumi Park. Yash Paul Kundal strongly pleaded the case of increased funding for Utterbehni and Parmandal and their development as tourist spots. He also demanded early establishment of Samba polytechnic and adequate funding for various roads, water supply schemes, Samba Mandis and Veer Bhumi Park.
