Army guarding borders plus entertaining locals in Rajouri

EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, July 25: In addition to guard borders and took steps for the safety and security of the civil population, Army is also coming forward to entertain people by organizing programmes like Cricket Tournament.
As per reports, under the aegis of Nowshera Brigade of army a Cricket Tournament was organized by Kalsian Battalion from July 14 to 25. 10 teams from the area participated in the even which was played on 20-20 pattern.
As per detail, 20 matches were played in the tournament excluding 2 semifinals and one final. Final match was played by between the teams of Naunihal and Langar villages teams in which Naunihal team get victory by 85 wickets.
On the occasion, Brigadier Saranjeet Singh, Commander Nowshera Brigade gave away the prizes among the participants .
The aim of this tournament was to offer the youths of border villages an opportunity to exhibit their sports spirit and inculcate the sense of competitiveness. The Kalsian Battalion has undertaken numerous projects under operation Sadbhawna such as conduct of medical/veterinary camps, provision of sports kits and furniture to schools and construction of electricity poles. The battalion has also adopted the Bal Ashram at Naushera to ensure all possible assistance for the bright future of these children. The occasion was also utilised by army to show case efforts pertaining to environmental, social and educational drives under taken by them for the villagers.
Brigadier Saranjeet Singh, Commander Nowshera Brigade gave away the prizes to the winning team and the talented players who exhibited extraordinary performance during the tournament. While addressing the villagers and the players, Brigadier Saranjeet Singh emphasized that besides quality education games and sports are equally important which inculcates in the youth the spirit of competitiveness and the courage to face challenges. He assured army's full cooperation for the prevalence of peace, harmony and development in the area. On this occasion he also spoke to the children of Bal Ashram Nowshera and presented them with gifts. He also interacted with Ex-servicemen and Village Defense Committee members and evaluated the efforts taken by army.
