| Pathania expresses concern over deteriorating state of Mansar Lake | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, July 27: While conducting an extensive tour of the area, R S Pathania, a prominent Youth Congress leader of the area has decried discriminatory and lackadaisical attitude of the authorities towards Mansar lake. Addressing the public gatherings during his tour, Pathania said that it has now been about five years back that an exclusive development authority was sanctioned for Mansar. Although crores have been spent on beautification/preservation of the historic lake, but least is visible on ground. The works have been allotted without tenders and the quality of work is very poor. The tiles on the pathway around the lake have been uprooted within months of their installation, he alleged Pathania demanded association of local people with the developmental-cum-beautification works going on here in order to ensure greater accountability and public emancipation. Congress leader alleged that the construction of cafeteria, parks, restaurant and other protection works around the lake are being carried out without any planning and the public money being constantly squandered. The blue-eyed people of the development authority are making full hay. Pathania called for immediate stopping of drinking water supply to adjoining villages from Mansar lake as its water level is continuously receding. He also called for a massive initiative for checking pollution in the lake and preservation of flora and fauna.
