JAMMU, July 25: A workers on "how to restore the glory of Jammu region', organized by Jammu Bachao Andolan was inaugurated by former MLA Ashok Sharma at press club here today. Addressing the inaugural session of the workshop Sharma pointed out the instances of injustice and disparities of the people of Jammu region in socio-economic and political filed and said that dep-limitation raising assemble and parliament seats for Jammu region to 56 and 3 respectively, rehabilitation of refugees, economic development and political statutory guarantees under the frame work of constitution of India and equal participation in decision making can be only the alternative to the represent prevailing in the nook and corners of all the ten districts of Jammu region. He described the slogans of autonomy and self rule as political gimmicks against the people of Jammu region because the purpose is not that of decentralization of powers had it been so there would have been continuity in local body elections, which provide power to the people at grass root level. He said even at present the local self govt. is missing in spite of the fact that it is 3rd democracy after parliament and state legislatures. Sharma hoped that the in-depth interaction during the workshop will come out solid recommendations to strength the glory, moral values communal harmony and brotherhood among the people of Jammu region.
