Guv visits holy cave, Panjtarni; reviews yatra arragements | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Jun 25 : With less than a week left for the commencement of the annual two-month-long Amarnath pilgrimage, Jammu and Kashmir governor N N Vohra today visited Holy Cave, Panjtarni and Baltal. Vohra, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), reviewed the status of the track clearance and various logistical arrangements and facilities for the yatra, which is scheduled to commence from shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam routes on July 1. The Governor, accompanied by his Principal Secretary and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Board Raj Kumar Goyal and Additional Chief Executive Officer Saugat Biswas, undertook a complete reconnaissance of the route to the Holy Cave. At Panjtarni and the Holy Cave, Vohra reviewed arrangements with the officials of the Shrine Board and various state government departments and agencies. He issued on the spot directions for the timely completion of all the required arrangements. At Baltal, Vohra reviewed arrangements at the Base Camp, along with the officials of the Shrine Board and Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Ms Dilshad Khan, SSP, Imtiaz and other officers of the District Administration and expressed satisfaction the arrangements underway for ensuring a smooth pilgrimage. He laid special emphasis on cleanliness and effective enforcement of all the required measures for protecting the environment and ecology of the Yatra area. At Baltal, a large delegation of Shri Amarnathji Barfani Langar Organisation (SABLO) led by its President Vijay Thakur and General Secretary Rajan Gupta, met Vohra and complimented the SASB for its ongoing efforts for ensuring improved management for this year's Yatra. They appreciated the keen interest taken by the Governor in daily reviewing of all arrangements. On the occasion, Thakur offered whole-hearted support to the Shrine Board in all its endeavours, including its laudable initiatives with regard to ensuring adequate sanitation facilities and sewage treatment processing on scientific basis. |
