| Border areas getting focused attention: Chib | | | early times report
JAMMU, July 25 :Minister for Medical and Technical Education, R. S. Chib has said that the government was paying special attention towards the development of border areas of Jammu province. He said all the departments have been asked to ensure quick response to the day today problems of the border people, especially farmers' community.
The Minister was interacting with delegations of the people of Tehsil R. S. Pura and Suchetgarh who called on him to putforth their problems.
Chib said that the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah was keen for the development and progress of border areas of Jammu, adding that he has issued strict directions for attending to the day to day and developmental needs of the people of these areas.
Giving details, Chib said that instructions have been issued for making special provisions for the supply of electric poles and transformers for meeting the domestic and irrigational needs of the areas along the border which are considered as the rice bowl of the state. He further ensured that special attention will be paid towards supply of power and maintenance of irrigation facilities to the border areas of Jammu district. Earlier, the delegates thanked the Government for taking measures for ensuring sufficient discharge in the irrigation canals up to the tail end. They said that most of the farmers have been benefitted with the measures taken by the government and they are getting sufficient water for irrigation purpose. They however, demanded improvement in tube well irrigation by making provision for uninterrupted power supply to the area. The delegations also demanded adequate measures for flood control besides, provision for roads, up-gradation of health services and development of lanes and drains in their respective areas. They also demanded streamlining of disbursement of old age pension in the border Tehsil and processing of the pending cases under the scheme Chief Engineer, PDD, SDM, R. S. Pura and all concerned officers were present on the occasion. |
