Natrang stages Urdu play 'Intzaar' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 25 : In its regular Sunday Theatre series, Natrang staged Urdu play 'Intzaar' in its studio theatre. The play has been written by Shadat Hassan Manto and was beautifully adapted and directed by Sumeet Sharma. The new & contemporary elements added in the play enhanced its impact which was apparently visible looking at the audience, who were fully engrossed by the performance. The play opens in a very hilarious situation in which 'Mantazar' is waiting for his beloved to come to meet him in a much awaited date. 'Mantzar' is waiting for her very anxiously, to the extent that even half an hour is very difficult to spend. He speaks with his own self and innovates different ways to pass the time calmly, he discusses the daily budget, music, literature etc. whatever he could think to divert his attention from the palpitation which he is feeling in the process of waiting, but nothing works. To make the situation even worse, some unwanted guests arrive which make his condition miserable. Finally when the time of meeting comes and the girlfriend arrives, he falls unconscious because of overtiredness. The girlfriend thinks he is unconcerned about the meeting and is sleeping, in the disgust, she leaves and the much awaited meeting turns to be a disaster which steered the comedy towards an irony. Mohit Sharma as 'Mantzar' had portrayed real to life frustration which was desired of his character. He was equally supported by Rohit Verma as his Inner Self. Niharika Sharma as the girlfriend was equally confident despite her debut performance, Rahul Singh as Friend and Ishfaq Anwar as Newspaper Vendor also impressed everyone. Lights were designed by Gaurav Jamwal and sound was conceptualized by Pankush Verma. Mohd Yaseen coordinated the show and the presentation was done by Vikram Sharma. |
