Homage paid to Kargil martyrs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 26: To observe "Kargil Vijay Divas" and pay homage to the martyrs of Kargil War, BJP, district Jammu unit under its president Rajesh Gupta organised a programme at Jammu. The portraits of two martyrs from Jammu-Major Ajay Singh Jasrotia and Subedar Bahadur Singh were garlanded. The party also honoured retired IG BSF Arjun Singh Jasrotia, the father of martyr Major Jasrotia and Smt. Pyari Devi, the widow of another martyr Subedar Bahadur Singh. BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, while appreciating and greeting the Indian army for its epic making performance, said that the sacrifices of the soldiers in Kargil War not only carried forward the glorious tradition of the Indian Army but also showed the entire world that they are capable of turning a very disadvantageous and weak position into victory. He said that the Kargil martyrs have inspired the entire young generation of the country to lay down the life for the nation and it was for this reason that after Kargil War the recruitment rallies across the country would attract enormous number of youth, who seemed to be in a race to serve the motherland at any cost and to be ready to give the supreme sacrifice. Member National Executive & former State president Dr. Nirmal Singh, while paying tributes, said that during Kargil war, the brave soldiers hailing from J&K state, especially the Dogras, have shown and kept up its golden tradition of giving supreme sacrifice for the motherland and had been no less in their performance along with others from rest of the country. He paid tributes to the martyrs and exhorted the youth in particular to be inspired by the bravery of these soldiers. Not only this, the BJP-led NDA also ensured that the dependents of these martyrs were provided independent source of income besides granting lakhs or rupees in cash with a motive to make them financially self reliance. Former State President & Jammu East MLA Ashok Khajuria said that the Kargil martyrs deserve salute as they did not bother about their families and sacrificed for the nation. He said for these martyrs nation was above everything. He criticised the leaders of mainstream political parties in the state of singing the slogans of self-rule, autonomy and pre-1953 position and not uttering a single word in praise of the brave Indians who laid down their lives in this part of the country. He also took all those political parties to task who have been raising objections over the accession of the state with the rest of the country. He said accession is final and no one has any right to make it an issue Arjun Singh Jasrotia expressed anguish over the failure of the State government for not remembering these martyrs, many of whom hailed from far off areas of different states. State General Secretary Usha Choudhary, MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma, Former Mayor Kavinder Gupta and Distt. President Rajesh Gupta also addressed this programme. Similar programmes were also organised at all the district headquarters. State Vice-president Chander Prakash Ganga alongwith MLA Durga Dass chaired programme at Samba. At Kathua, State Vice-president Anil Gupta and State General Secretary Satish Sharma presided over the programme. BJP senior leader Chander Mohan Sharma, alongwith State vice-president Som Raj Khajuria presided at Udhampur. While State General Secretary Sat Sharma (C.A) presided over the programme at Rajouri, State Secretary Yudhvir Sethi graced the programme at Sunderbani. State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora (Adv.), Mahila Morcha State President Sakina Bano and party MLAs Prof. Gharu Ram and Shyam Choudhary took part in similar programme at R.S. Pura. At Ramban, MLA Bharat Bhushan and BJYM State President Munish Sharma presided over such programme. |
