JBA to launch massive awareness campaign against injustice | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 26: The Jammu Bachao Andolan (JBA) called evolving constitutional safe guards for ensuring equitable economic development and political empowerment to Jammu region so as to safe guard it against further discrimination. Giving details of the recommendations of the one-day workshop organized on the theme of restoring glory of Jammu region which concluded last evening, its convener wing commander G.L Sharma said that it was resolved to launch a massive awareness campaign across the region to make the people aware about the injustice meted out to people of Jammu in various affairs and the strategy to be adopted to put an end to this unfortunate chapter of history. He said JBA would launch membership drive in a big way to enroll maximum number of people, particularly youth and women to carry this movement to every book and corner of the region. Special cells of intellectuals, lawyers, professionals, trade and business and all other sections of society would be constituted to make JBA a people's movement. Eliminating corruption ensuring full share in job to the youth, developend funds and immediate de-limitation to raise the number of legislative assembly seats to 56 and that to Lok Sabha to 3 were the other recommendations of the workshop, said Sharma. The workshop also urged for setting-up of a separate PSC and SSRB for Jammu region as also creating a separate ministry and the department for Jammu affairs to coordinate all the developmental and other activities in the region. It also pleaded for strengthening of RTI, Act, appointment of chief information commissioner and other members of the commission under Act, making fully functional the accountability commission to provide the people good governance. It also resolved that communal harmony brotherhood and moral values be kept at priority during the struggle for justice. The web site of JBA was also launched during the forenoon session by Ashok Sharma, former legislature.
