7/26/2010 11:08:59 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 26: All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) organised, first of its kind, an interactive meet with the exiled Kashmiri Pandit lawyers.
Addressing to the large gathering Pt. Moti Kaul stressed on the need for self-introspection.
Responding to the erosion in the cultural values voiced by the exiled lawyers fraternity, Kaul said that unless ``we have our own land beneath our feet, maintaining culture is extremely difficult''. He, however, expressed satisfaction that despite innumerable odds, Kashmiri Pandit community has faced the challenges with immense courage. ``We could build Ashrams and temples in exile and retain our traditional and religious festivities,'' he said.
Apart from identity crisis the difficulties and problems in the socio-fabric are increasing with the passing time. Kaul assured the lawyers that he will continue to interact with different shades of the community members, affiliates, camp dwellers and all other sections of the community throughout the length and breadth of the country and on the global level too. Shri Kaul said that lawyers are an important constituent of any community because they have the capability and intellect to contribute and deliver the things. He appealed to them to come forward for the community cause and join our hands.
Earlier welcoming the exiled lawyers, Moti Kaul said that because more than forty percent KPs are living here at Jammu, AIKS has opened offices at Jammu and Udhampur to push the various programmes of the community forward since he took over as the president of All India Kashmiri Samaj. He also informed that AIKS has started consolidating global directory of KPs which will have valuable information and make Kashmiri Pandits interconnected.
On this occasion, a paper containing the vital issues of political empowerment of the community, temples and shrines bill, and physical space for Kashmiri Pandits in the valley was distributed. Lawyers held an exhaustive analysis of things. The pros and cons on each subject were widely discussed. The exiled lawyers raised the security concern of those youth who have been provisionally appointed under the Prime Minister's Relief and Rehabilitation programme. They offered their contribution, in whatever capacity, in strengthening the hands of All India Kashmiri Samaj to the community cause. They also suggested of forming Kashmiri Pandit legal cell to counsel community members in distress.
The lawyers who spoke include Advocates Shri P.N. Goja, R.K.Dulloo, K.B. Kaw, J.M Razdan, J.K.Bhat, Minu Kaul, Nagendra Sapru, Sunil Thusoo, Yogesh Bhat and Rakesh Rattan Bhat. From AIKS Shri Vir Ji Bhat offered the vote of thanks. The programme was coordinated by Aryan Ramesh
