| Dist Dev Board meet: PDP Legislators walkout | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, 26 July:The legislators belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party today walked out of the District Development Board meeting in protest against mounting atrocities and inability of the government to punish culprits, especially in the murder case of three boys in Anantnag.
The legislators, including Mohammed Sartaj Madni Deputy Speaker, Ab Rehman Veeri deputy leader of legislature party , Ab Gaffar Sofi Chief whip, Mohammed Rafi Mir MLA Pahalgam, Peerzada Manzsoor Hussain MLA Shangus and Nizamudin Khatana MLC raised the issues of security and atrocities at the out set of the meeting.
The PDP leaders questioned the purpose of the holding a District Development Board meeting in an atmosphere of the state repression and total absence of the accountability which in addition to all kinds of excesses to the people have resulted in the loss of scores of young lines.
The leaders pointed out that the Chief Minister had on June 29 promised at the same venue where district development board meeting was held that the culprits involved in the cold-blooded murder of Sajadul Islam, Ishfaq Ahmad and Imtiyaz Ahmad of Islamabad would be punished within 24 hours, they said no progress had been made in the investigation so far inspite of overwhelming evidence available to the police not even identification parade had been carried out which was a preliminary requirement for such investigation.
