Veterinary doctors deputation call on Director Animal Husbandry | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 27: A delegation of J&K Veterinary Doctors Association (VDA) led by its president Dr. M.T. Krishan called on Director Animal Husbandry, Jammu and resented the failure of the government to address the issues facing the veterinary profession in the state in general and Jammu division in particular. As per press release association expressed serious concern over the partial handing over of Artificial Insemination programme to the retired persons instead of updating the existing A.I, centres which are mostly without staff and infrastructure and moreover, allowing A.I. by private persons is detrimental due to their non-accountability in performance and non-monitoring of after service period. Provision of supply of Frozen Semen Straws to private persons directly by Frozen Semen Bank without involvement of concerned Chief Animal Husbandry officers and Block Veterinary Officers will overlap the areas targeted by the department for the A.I. Programme thereby resulting in failure of the said programme. JKVDA also expressed resentment over the failure of the department in removing the pay anomaly, conduction of DPC creation of VAS posts in uncovered panchayats, filling of vacant posts and framing transparent transfer policy. The delegation also resented the purchases of medicines by State Level Purchase Committee without getting their efficacy reports and requirement demands from field veterinarians who have to prescribe these medicines to the poor farmers in the field. The association had a threadbare discussion on all the issues. The director gave a patient hearing and assured the association to look into their demands personally. The members who were in the deputation included Dr. R.K. Anand, Dr. C.K. Bakshi, and Dr. Majid Malik.
