Governor inaugurates National Integration Camp of NCC Cadets at Leh

LEH, JULY 26 – Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S.K.Sinha speaking at the inaugural function of national Integration Camp of NCC cadets in Leh today said that youth can play a significant role in promoting national integration and unity through active participation in social activities.
Some 250 cadets from 23 states and union territories were present on the inaugural day of the weeklong camp. Governor said NCC has a big responsibility to infuse the spirit of nationalism and unity among youth and prepare them to face today’s global challenges. He also reiterated the multi-lingral, multi-cultural and multi-religious identities of Indian nation on the occasion as depicted in the presentation of the cultural programmes by the NCC Cadets.
Governor Sinha said, this multi-ethenic identity forms the essence of India’s unique civilization, which has flourished in true meaning over many centuries and still alive unlike many civilizations in the West. Hence, the youth should uphold the cultural ethos of Indian civilization, which forms the binding factor in the unparalleled India’s unity in diversity. Here he quoted an Urdu verse of Sir Alama Iqbal ‘Misr wa Rome Sab Mit Gaye Jahan Se, Aab Tak Magar Hey Baqi, Nam wa Nishan Hamara. Kuch Bat Hai Aisi Ki Mit ti Nai Sadiyon Raha Hai Dushman, Dore Zaman hamara’.
Describing Ladakh of 1948 as a tough land with difficult challenges with no road and other infrastructure facilities Governor Sinha, recalled the days of his first visit at that time, he said that he first landed here in 1948 in the capacity of an Army Officer. He asked the NCC cadets to confront challenges with toughness taking inspiration from Ladakh region, which can rightly be said India’s Jewel in the Crown.
On the occasion, the Director General NCC Lt. Gen. M. C. Bhandari said that there are as many as 1.3 million NCC cadets in the country and the number would increase to 1.5 million by next year. He also gave a brief account of the activities of NCC being carried out in different parts of the country. Deputy Director General, NCC, J&K Brig. R. Vinayak said that during the national Integration Camp of NCC the cadets will take part in many sports, cultural and other activities.
The Cadets presented a scintillating cultural programme representing the cultural glimpses of all the states of the Union, which received a huge public applause, which echoed the Kumba Hall of ITBP. ‘The governor was accorded a warm Ladakhi traditional reception at Kushoki Bakula Airport.
Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Mr. Tsering Dorje, Deputy Commissioner, Leh Mr. M. K. Diwedi, DIG ITBP and other senior army, civil and police officers were present at the airport this morning to receive the Governor.
