SMGS gets two potable water points

JAMMU, OCTOBER 23
Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma today inaugurated newly upgraded blood bank, two drinking water points and nursing stations at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital Shalimar here, this morning.
Member Legislative Council Ashok Sharma, Mayor JMC Manmohan Singh, Principal Govt. Medical College Mumtaz Goni, Principal Indira Gandhi Dental Hospital M. R. Sharma, Prof & HoD Transfusion Medicine Dr. Kum Kum Sharma, Medical Superintendent SMGS hospital Dr. Yash Paul Sharma and other senior doctors of Government Medical College were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma said that the coalition government is making concerted efforts to provide best possible medicare facilities to the people of all the three regions of the state at their doorsteps. He asked the doctors, para-medical staff to provide better medicare facilities to ailing patients so that they do not face any inconvenience. He said that in order to minimize the problem of overloading in the labour room of the hospital, a new building would be constructed adjoining to the existing labour room with an estimated cost of Rs. 55 lakh soon. He said that the government has planned to renovate and remodel Paediatric Emergency Ward of the hospital for the benefit of general masses. He asked the Medical Superintendent of SMGS hospital to display the sign boards regarding the facilities provided in the hospital for the knowledge of patients and their attendants. He stated that to improve the working standard of nurses, model nursing stations have also been constructed in the hospital at an estimated cost of Rs. 50,000/- each in Ward No. 7, 8, 9 and 11 with adequate facilities of proper sitting arrangements, storage of fluids and other life saving drugs and equipments.
The Minister said that in order to update the knowledge and skills of the staff members, regular refresher courses are being organized in the hospital which include HIV/AIDS, safe transfusion practices, art of living, yoga, communication and leadership etc. In order to provide better environment to the ailing patients, the government has constructed beautiful parks and gardens in and around the hospital. He informed that the hospital's foundation was laid by His Highness Raj Rajeshwar Maharaja Dhiraj Maharaja Shri Harisingh Bahadur on May 6, 1940 in the memory of his great grand Father Maharaja Gulab Singh. He said that the present government is making tireless efforts to upgrade district, sub-district, Primary Health Centres so that the ailing patients be treated at their doorsteps.
