| Taj takes stock of essentials on Eid - eve | | |
SRINAGAR, October 23
Minister for Consumer Affair and Public Distriobution Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din alongwith a team of officers inspected several areas in Srinagar city today to take stock of the availability of essential commodities on account of Eid-ul-Fiter.
He visited Hari Singh High Street, Sarai Balla, Maharaja Bazaar, Koker Bazaar, Khanyar, Nowakadal, Borikadal and other areas.
During the inspection the Minister interacted with people and enquired about the availability of food grains, K-Oil, LPG and other essentials. People in general were satisfied over the availability position of different commodities in the city. However the Minister was told at some places that the supply of food grains and other essential be regulated continuously so that no difficulties is faced by the people. He assured them that a constant eye will be kept to monitor demand and supply position of essentials.
The Minister also checked the rate lists of shopkeepers and exhorted upon them to display rate of different commodities so that people are aware about the prices of these commodities.
The Minister requested the people to cooperate with the enforcement wing of the department and inform the concerned officers where ever they find any dealer selling essentials on over rates. In order to ensure proper and complete checking of markets people have to come forward and register complaints against the black marketers, he said.
At Sarai bala the Minister paid obeisance at the shrine of Dastigeer sahib and prayed for the peace and tranquility of the state.
The Minister also felicitated the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid and hoped that the Eid be the harbinger of peace in the state.
