Srinagar, July 26, – Stressing the need for early completion of important road connectivity projects in the state, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Hussain Baig today asked for removing the bottlenecks of the process on a priority basis. Chairing a high level joint meeting of senior officers of state government and Border Roads Organization (BRO) officers here today, Mr. Baig said connectivity is a pre requisite for the socio economic development of an area and early completion of these ambitious projects would usher in an era of economic growth and development for the state. The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to increase the pace of execution of work on these projects and suggested a monthly interaction between the officers of state government and BRO. The meeting was informed that the Srinagar-Zojila-Kargil-Leh road has been declared as National Highway ID (NHID) and the process of widening of the road is on. The meeting was also informed about the progress made on improvement of Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri National Highway, including 4 laning, double laning and road up gradation. Forest clearance formalities in most of the cases have been completed, the meeting was told. Among those who attended the meeting included Chief Secretary, Mr. C. Phunsung, Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Vijay Bakaya, Commissioner Secretary, Forests, Mr. Najam-us-Saqib, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Pramod Jain, Commissioner Secretary, R&B, Mr. Atal Dullo, Chief Engineer, Project BEACON, Brig. S.S Dasaka besides senior officers of forests, R&B, PDD and BRO. |
