LM books 2 companies under standard Act | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 31: Continuing its drive to protect consumers' interest against false and misleading advertisements by the companies in electronic and print media, the department of Legal Metrology today fined M/S Bawa Enterprises, for violating provisions of Standard Act 1976. Misleading the consumers through its advertisement , the company for the sale promotion of its product 'NARPA' masala has been attracting the consumers with the lucrative sale price of Rs 10 for the said masala but company did not displayed net contents of the said package for the information of the consumers. This violates the provision of Standard Act of 1976. Notice was issued to the company and pursuant to that, company rectified the advertisement in the interest of consumers. An amount of Rs. 12000 was recovered as fine. In another case, VLCC, Health Care, Gurgaon (Haryana) was also issued notice for use of Non Metric Units in one of the advertisement published in print media. With the written assurance of the company not to repeat the mistake in future, the case was compounded for Rs 8000.
