| Seminar on 'Modern Trends in Dogri Literature' organized | | |

JAMMU, July 31: A two day national seminar on 'Modern Trends in Dogri Literature' started with a simple but impressive inaugural function here today, which was presided over by Prof Veena Gupta, Convener, Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi.
In all nine papers will be presented by the experts and scholars in four sessions spread over two days of the seminar and a Kavi-Ghoshti will also be held.
Renu Mohan Bhan, the Deputy Secretary of Sahitya Akademi while welcoming the audience highlighted the policies of the Akademi for promotion of various Indian languages. She said there are many avenues which need to be explored by the people working in the field of literature.
Lalit Magotra in his address set the pace of the seminar by defining the parameters and scope of the topic. He explained in detail the importance of word 'modern' and in light of it he analyzed the literature in general and Dogri literature in particular.
He laid emphasis on his observations that Dogri literature from the very beginning has been mostly modern in its outlook and tendencies. He said there have been many experimentations in Dogri mostly successful, in contents, form and style, which maintained the tempo of modern trends in Dogri.
Speaking on the occasion, Veena Gupta dwelt in detail on the importance and relevance of the seminar.
She said that Dogri literature from the very outset may it be in the earlier time of Deviditta or of Dinubhai Pant and B P Sathe or of 21st century always kept pace with modern thought and outlook.
She laid stress to study the literature of this language from different angles which is the need of the hour. She also shared with audience, the various projects undertaken and completed by Sahitya Akademi in Dogri in past about two years. Prof Archana Kesar, Mem ber General Council, Sahitya Akademi presented vote of thanks.
