VHP apprehensive over safety of pilgrims in Valley | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 31: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today expressed apprehension over the safety of Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir valley, many of whom, it said has been reported to be held hostage by irate mob at Bijbehara. "We want government to immediately stop the yatra from Jammu and provide safe passage to nearly 150 vehicles full of pilgrims stranded in Kashmir who were coming back to Jammu after having the darshan," said VHP president, Ramakant Dubey while addressing a press conference here today. He, further, said that until the situation turns normal, the administration should immediately stop the yatra for safeguarding the lives and properties of the pilgrims going to Amarnath yatra. The VHP president said that since the situation in valley has virtually slipped out of the hands of the government at state as well as Centre, the Governor N N Vohra should use his office to apprise the President of India about the situation in Valley so that the Governor rule may be implemented with immediate effect. Talking about the situation in valley, the VHP president put the onus on Pak sponsored terrorism in the state creating the situation leading to stone pelting. "It is Pakistan's game plan to include its agents into the present showdown of people in the valley against the security forces so that its agenda of breaking the state from rest of India keeps going," said Ramakant Dubey adding, "despite getting rough treatment at the hands of Pakistan, the foreign and home minister of India again speaking about initiating talks with Pakistan under such circumstances sounds very ridiculous." The VHP demanded immediate dismissal of the present government and reinstatement of peace in the valley under the total army control.
