| Plantation drive launched in Poonch | | |

POONCH, July 31: A week long plantation drive was kick started at an impressive function organized by Army's 93 Brigade in collaboration with GBHSS Poonch, here today. District Deve lopment Com missioner, Kuldip Lal Khajuria and Brigadier, V S Sree nivasan who were guest of honour on the occasion, planted one sapling each in the compound of Gove rnment Boys Higher Secondary School, Poonch. Principal of the institution, Kanwal Verma, prominent citizens, army officers, staff members and students of the institution were present on the occasion. Cultural items including songs, gazals and choruses were also presented conveying the message of saints about the importance forests for better human life and their role in proving livelihood to people.
Guests of honour also spoke on the occasion and said that 15000 saplings will be planted during the week.
They appreciated the role of principal of the institution for extending cooperation in conducting this function and his active participation in other extra-curricular activities.
Brigadier Sreenivasan presented packed gifts to music master, Kartar Chand and students of the institution. Audience lauded the cultural performances aimed at highlighting the noble service.
